Gina Bautista Herrera
Research Specialist
Gina Bautista Herrera is a Nutritionist originally from Michoacan, Mexico. She obtained her Bachelor of Arts in Nutrition and Wellness at the ITESM Ciudad de Mexico in 2012 and moved to Santiago de Chile in 2014. After receiving her Masters in Nutrition and Food at the INTA Universidad de Chile in 2016, she joined the CIAPEC Center for Research at INTA, Universidad de Chile, where she had the opportunity to collaborate with the Global Food Research Program, working on the Chilean Project as a Nutrition Assistant. In 2022, Gina moved to San Diego, California, and joined the Global Food Research Program as a Research Specialist in 2024 to focus mainly on the Colombian project. Working closely with international teams led her to foster a diverse and inclusive work environment awareness and grow her interest and passion in contributing to the ongoing efforts to advance global nutrition research and policy.
My “go-to” comfort food is… chicken soup, which tastes like home.
Foods I must have in my home are… eggs, avocados, and milk.
When I’m in a time crunch, I love to make… avocado toast with watermelon radish and black sesame seeds which is simply delicious.
